1. Engine Service & Tune-Up
After sitting all winter, your engine needs attention before the first launch. At minimum you should check your oil, fuel lines, belts, and cooling system. Better yet, bring it to HYDROWAKE and let our technicians do a full spring commissioning — we’ll make sure everything is running perfectly before you head out.
2. Battery Check
Cold Michigan winters are hard on batteries. Test yours before launch day — a dead battery on the water is no fun. If it’s more than 3 years old, consider replacing it now before it leaves you stranded.
3. Hull & Exterior Inspection
Check your hull for any cracks, chips, or oxidation that developed over winter. Spring is the perfect time for a professional detail and wax to protect your boat’s finish for the entire season. HYDROWAKE offers full interior and exterior detailing, ceramic coating, and oxidation removal.
4. Safety Equipment
Check your life jackets, fire extinguisher, flares, and navigation lights. Michigan law requires all boats to carry Coast Guard approved life jackets for every person on board. Make sure yours are in good condition and up to date.
5. Dock Installation
If your dock came out for winter, now is the time to get it back in before the season rush hits. HYDROWAKE installs and services docks throughout Michigan — we carry ShoreMaster, ShorePort, Poly Dock, and Captain’s Choice systems. Book early because our spring schedule fills up fast.
6. Trailer Inspection
Check your trailer’s tires, lights, wheel bearings, and hitch before your first trip to the launch. A blown trailer tire on the highway is one of the most common — and most avoidable — problems we see in spring.
